Happy New Year to everyone!

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

And with the beginning of a new year, we are pleased to announce that we are ready to start the Barrel Club!!

The Barrel Club is where we create a large batch of wine (230 litres) in our stainless-steel fermenters and then age the wine in a Hungarian Oak Cask. Creating a high-quality wine with tons of character and flavour. Sounds like a variety you want to have in your cellar? Keep reading…

We have our first three varieties on order and they should be arriving this week. Just choose which variety or varieties you want to join in on and then give us a call to hold your spot. Once we have 10 spots filled, we will get that batch on the go. Payment can be made over the phone (403-981-5511) to save a trip to the shop. Once it is sold out, we will contact everyone to come in to pitch the yeast. Just like all of our kits this opportunity will get you about 30 bottles of wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vine (Lodi, California) – The most popular variety in the store over the past two months! We are making one of the best Cabernet Sauvignon we have available. Lodi California is known for it’s old vines which produce amazing grapes.

Rich berry bouquet with blackcurrant undertones. The black skins have lots of tannin and deep rich color which indicate a wine with aging potential. This wine has an incredible complexity of aroma and taste with hints of cherry, chocolate and licorice.

Sweetness: Dry / Body: Full / Oak: Heavy / Recommended aging: 9-12 months

Cost for this variety is $240 +GST and any bottles required. At 30 bottles this is $8 per bottle.

Merlot Old Vine (Lodi, California) – This variety of Merlot has so much to offer and the Oak Barrel aging will make this great variety that much better. The supple, round-bodied Merlot is enjoying increased popularity as a pure varietal. Medium to dark red, it has a distinct nose of cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants and mint, also displays some herbs and spices.

Oak: Light/ Body: Medium /Recommended Aging: 3-6 months

Cost for this variety is $240 +GST and any bottles required. At 30 Bottles this is $8 per bottle

Italian Grand Barolo - Nebbiolo is the grape variety that makes Barolo. One of Italy’s most famous varieties is grown primarily in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. A wine that evokes legend and fascination with its brilliant garnet-red and flashes of amber. The bouquet is both pleasing and intense with aromatic notes of violets and oregano. Smooth in the mouth with crisp acidity, its firm but well integrated tannins give good length on the palate. It is a wine that exudes glory, nobility and power.

Oak: Heavy / Body: Heavy / Recommended Aging: 9-12 months (aging of this wine will mellow out the tannins).

Cost for this variety is $270 +GST and any bottles required. At 30 bottles this is $9 per bottle.
